What is a Graphic Designer’s Job

A Graphic designer’s general task is to prepare concepts, sketches or layout concepts. There are several techniques that are generally used to do this; by hand with pencils and or Pantone rendering markers, with a computer using programs such as Adobe Illustrator, Quark Xpress or by verbal instruction to illustrative hands.

To provide a vision for the design a designer will select sound effects, colors, mechanical artwork,animation, photography, font style, and other graphic depictions for the complete design. It is a highly satisfying form of art that requires a high degree of creativity, imagination and intellect, often employing the work of a team. The Relationship Between Paper and Ink

Color is so important in your life and has dramatic effect on our functions is society. Colors guide us on our way to work using red yellow and green in traffic lights. They are the main ingredient in assembly and connection of electronics and wiring.

On this website colors also have a tremendous impact on the look and feel of your finished product. Additionally, there are many other factors that will influence the way colors print on paper.

There are many methods of etching that final color image onto paper such as laser, inkjet, professional lithography, letterpress, silk screening or by hand. Indeed all these rendering techniques are much different, but one of the key elements they all share is color. Selecting and balancing your color choices is an art and each color used should be understood for their symbolic meanings.

There are some paper substrates that have been designed for special purposes and cannot be printed on using conventional printing methods like CMYK or Spot Color. For example Bind a Kote is a specialty color coated paper that works very well with foil stamping and embossing. Because the paper colors are so pronounced they would have tremendous influence on traditional inks. For a good comparison take a sheet of white paper and color on it with a pink magic marker, now take the same marker and colour on a deeply colored sheet. You’ll see the color of paper hugely effects the same color.

A Definition of Aqueous Coating

This coating will be similar to varnish on both coated and uncoated papers but provides better protection over time. It is a low-pollution coating made under strict environmental-protective standards. It is a totally a water based coating which is applied in the same manner as ink on press. The coating can have an impact on its performance over time by withstanding wear and tear, scuffing and resistance to water. It can be applied in glossy, Matte or Satin finish to diffuse refection for better readability. When this protective coating is used it will typically cover the entire press sheet, but can also be set up to print the same as spot varnish (A custom graphic shape such as a logo).

We are often asked to create the logo from scratch which will ultimately be sent to print and the web for display. To insure the highest degree of accuracy use programs like Illustrator, Quark or Photoshop. For our needs we like illustrator. It is our #1choice for laying out and creating most any creative item called for in any format including SWF. Illustrator is used in our operation when you want to get Images in color for your designs and full color combination templates.

A. We do not require crop marks although you can place them is you wish. Crop marks signify to the printer what the final trimmed size of your order is.
